Looking Toward The Future

Norah Michelle Lytle was dedicated to the Lord yesterday morning. This picture was taken as we first walked onto the stage, and it depicts three generations -- Seth, my son-in-law and father of our second granddaughter, Norah all dressed up in her dedication gown not sure what is happening, and Jim Lytle ( Seth's dad) taking it all in from over his oldest son's shoulder.

As we paused asking God to lead Seth and Tracy in their pursuit of godly parenting, I am struck by the symbolism this pictures portrays: It's as if Seth is looking toward the future unsure of what Norah will face in her lifetime, but confident that God who knows all things will guide him daily. Then, from behind him is the love and support of his dad who has lovingly and wisely guided his son since the day he held him in his arms 26 years ago. I love this picture!

Father, thank you for joining us to a local church that embraces seriously the role parents play in raising their children for the glory of God. Thank you that my granddaughters are being brought up in the way that they should go. Keep the hearts of my sons and daughters for you alone. May they not be drawn into the world and it's temptations, but may they be drawn to know and love you more. Give them wisdom beyond their years, and most of all, keep them humbly dependent on Your Holy Spirit. In Your name I pray, Amen!
