Happy New Year! It's 2008, and time seems to be flying by. It's at times like these that my thoughts are drawn to eternity where time will go unnoticed. I will one day be in the place that my precious Savior secured for me on the Cross. I will join my ancestors, including my Dad who died four years ago on the 3rd of January, and my Grandmother who died in 1979, but who's memory lives on in my mind and especially in my heart.
Do you know that you'll be there with me? You can be as certain as I am that you will spend eternity with Christ in the New Heaven and on the New Earth. Click on the button on the side that says "2 Ways to Live" for a wonderful presentation of the Gospel!
Today I was reading through Heaven, by Randy Alcorn, and he quotes A.W. Tozer as saying:
So this year I am going to commit to "think of the long tomorrow". It is easy to get caught up in everyday life that we waste the precious time we've been given. My Grandmother often quoted her favorite scripture to me; not because she enjoyed hearing herself speak, but because she was attempting to draw my heart and soul to the truth of Scripture and the reality of eternity. The verse I remember her saying at night as we laid in bed was John 14:1-3:
14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; [1] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? [2] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
What a marvelous truth - Christ is preparing a place for those who are called by His name. That includes me, by God's amazing mercy and kindness!
This blog is dedicated to exploring the season of Grandparenting - what a treasure I had in my grandmother. What a treasure my children have in their grandparents. The question is are we listening to what the generations before us are saying? Once again, the words of Tozer call out to us: "We do well to think of the long tomorrow".
