I am sad today. I just found out that my dearly loved music teacher from high school, Mr. Leslie F. Knepper, passed away in November. I have been trying to find out where he and his wife moved so that I could reconnect with him after all these years, but all attempts were unsuccessful. The good news is that he loved the Lord, so I do not grieve as those who have no hope. I will see him again one day. His wife passed away just last week, and her memorial service was the same day and time as my good friend, Jacques Soucy's memorial service. Another special man that I will miss greeting on Sunday mornings! Au revoir, Jacques!
Lastly, I must tell you about a man that Tom and I didn't really meet, but he has still become very special to us. In 2000 Tom had to go to Long Boat Key for business. We stayed in a Holiday Inn, and in the lounge there was a man playing the most beautiful acoustic guitar music. It was his music that drew us in, but his kind smile that kept us there until his set was over. He came over to meet us. We shared with him how much we loved his music, and he mentioned that he had a CD available if we were interested. I'm so glad that we bought it! We wake to it in the mornings. The title is aptly named, Lost In The Music. His name? Sal DiTroia. I decided today to Google his name to see if he had any new recordings out, only to discover that he, too, passed away in June of 2007. He laid down to take a nap and never woke up. He was only in his 60's. Click here to hear his beautiful music!
We never know when our last day on this earth will be, but the three men that I mention in this post left their mark on my life. I pray that I will live my life in such a way, so that other's remember not me, but the God I serve, who gave me life, hope and a reason to live.
