It's nearly 10p, and we just walked in the door from the pie competition. Jason, Ashley and Bristol came to cheer me on, so afterwards we went to dinner. Needless to say, we're pretty tired.
How did I do? Well, I didn't win, but we had a blast! The competition was really tough, so after hearing how many of the entrants were repeat first prize winners in their state fairs, I knew I might be in over my head. But I don't bake for them; I bake for my family! And they love them. Will I do it again next year? I may because it really was a fun day.
I'll post pictures later! I'm too tired to think about that right now. Good night!

Well I guess that the judges just don't know a good pie when they see one. We all know how wonderful they taste. You are a great pie baker and you sure have our vote. Love Mom and Pops
Well, the pies looked yummy and I'm sure tasted yummy too. Have you ever entered a contest like this before?
I just have to say...Good for you for stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something that was a life experience. Who cares if you were in over your head??!! I think it's awesome that you went into an unknown and tried!! Good Job....AND I had CHOCOLATE for you yesterday at church and missed you. Other than the scientific minds around :) no one dared to tackle the geneology. They all said it was too hard...so good job there as well. You're chocolate is now in the abyss I call my purse:)
Tammy, I've entered the Orange County Fair Pie Competition once before and took home the blue ribbon. The competition wasn't much though - most pies were made with store bought crust. This competition was really with those who excel in home baking skills. It was quite the learning experience...and I think I'll try again next year!
