This past Sunday we celebrated the achievement of John Morgan's first book being published, My Life As A Bush - And My Heart For Imitating Jesus. He was featured this week on The 700 Club. Our Writer's Block hosted a book release party that was a joy to do. Sadly, we hadn't thought of doing this before for our other published authors like Rob Swanson, Jon White and Leslie Santamaria. We have decided that from now on, this is what we would like to do.Another friend, Carol Spradling, was there and very excited about the release of her historical fiction book available in print this November. It is already available as an e-book and is titled, "Cost of Freedom". She hasn't joined our Writer's Block because of the distance - she lives in Daytona Beach - but she is interested in our future meetings. She was very encouraging about my book, and strongly urged me to get going with my 2nd draft so that I can pursue publication.
Good News! I finally began the process of writing the 2nd draft of my novel, Through The Eyes Of Grace. I read the entire manuscript today while it was raining - all 68,349 words. In doing this, I can see many parts that need to change, but I'm freshly affected as to the reason I'm writing my grandmother's story in the first place - to encourage young people to ask questions of their grandparents while they have the chance. I believe this message is important and my book tells the story I never knew of my grandmother while she was alive. I didn't find out her amazing story until after she died. I was only 19.
How about you? Do you know your grandparent's story? Have you ever taken the time to ask them good questions? Here are a few to consider:
What is your first memory as a child?
If you could visit anywhere in the world where would it be, and why?
How did you and grandma/grandpa meet?
Maybe, like me, your grandparents are gone, and it's too late to ask them. Then, why not ask your parents for the sake of your grandchildren? Each life is a wonderful story of God's sovereignty. The more we know how our family history has played out, the more we will see God's hand bringing us to the place of saving faith! And the more we will glorify God for the great things He has done. I can't wait to share with you one day, my grandmother's story. But blogging will have to take a back burner if I'm ever to finish!

This is so good Debi. My grandparents are deceased and it wasn't until the last few years I've been inspired to find all about them. So, I'm in the beginning stages of writing down everything my parents tell me. I hope to have a memory book that reflects their lives. Thanks for the reminder!
I can't wait to read it! Thanks for reminding me to ask my Grandparents questions and right them down. I love hearing the stories they tell and I am sure I will never remember all of them!
