Unexpected Blessing!
Today I received news that I've won the grand prize in WLOQ's Jazz Up Your Kitchen contest. Monarch Kitchen and Bath Designs are giving me a $15,000 cabinet makeover! I can't believe it! Here is the poem I submitted that won:

If Dr. Seuss lived in my house...

I want to win oh yes I do - I love to cook but this won't do
"Won't do" you say, what do you mean?
You're kitchen looks so shiny and clean!
Clean it is, I will admit, but these old cabinets are warped and split
They split and warped when the rain clouds came
The rain it came without refrain
It rained inside like a faucet true
It rained so hard I knew not what to do

But now I have this chance you see
I'm grateful for the opportunity
Opportunities come but once they say
So please won't you consider my kitchen today?
Last week I turned the big 5-0
And what a gift this would be you know?

You know it's time for me to stop
Like a cocoon that's finished sealed to the top
I want my kitchen to break free and be
A Monarch flying quite easily
It's beauty is there for all to see
Please oh please won't you consider me?

So now I'm waiting to get a phone call from them to schedule our first consultation. What a blessing! Thank you, God!
