Day Four from Barbados!

Tom didn't get back to the hotel until 5:40p. He was pretty tired, and I think his pants are dirty enough to stand on their own; proof that he has been working harder than he expected. He had thought - brand new kitchen, start-up equipment, empty facility -- piece of cake! Wrong!!! What it turned out to be is

  • Brand new kitchen that is still under construction with dust and grime everywhere,
  • Start-up equipment that hasn't been properly installed is missing parts and still has boxes of miscellaneous parts needing to be matched up and installed with their proper equipment everywhere!
  • Empty facility that doesn't have air conditioning, windows that can be opened or fans in place.
But he is actually enjoying it very much, although he's ready to be finished. He's back there again today, but he promised he'd leave by noon, so that we can have a little time to enjoy Barbados like most tourists do.

We decided that since we have been here for half a week already it was time to venture out for dinner instead of filling up on the free appetizers in the Executive Lounge. The place we heard over and over again to try just happens to be within walking distance to our hotel. So we walked forgetting that it is still hot here. The restaurant was beautiful, but only one problem - no air conditioning! Poor Tom! We decided that if they gave us a table under and ceiling fan we'd be okay -- they gave us a great table (see picture above) between two cascading waterfalls and under the most luxurious ceiling fan (not really, it just worked!) :-) Once we sat down and started talking we forgot that it was hot - we just enjoyed being together and sharing about our third day apart. Tom is making progress with the kitchen and I'm making progress with my book. It was a wonderful evening and the food at Brown Sugar Restaurant was authentic Bajan food. We had Fried Flying Fish (see picture above) - absolutely delicious!

Until next time!
