Great American Pie Competition
This weekend is the Great American Pie Festival at Celebration, FL. They host a National Pie Competition each year with 16 categories of delicious pies. Tom and I found out about this by watching a special on The Food Network from 2006. It looks like a lot of fun, and if you win there's even cash prizes! Tom encouraged me to enter some of my pies this year, so I've been baking all day today. These are the pies I'll be entering tomorrow morning:
Creme de la Creme Apple Pie
Very Cherry Pie
Peach of a Pie
Strawberry Margarita Cream Cheese Pie
Caramel Macchiato Pie
I received a phone call from a local public relations company that is in charge of promoting the event. They asked if I'd be willing to come out on Thursday (yesterday). Fox 35 News was going to highlight the event on their evening news and wanted a local contestant to interview. Sooo, I did! If I didn't get cut out of the 1.5 minute piece it should air during tonight's broadcast between 5:00 and 6:00p.
The judging takes place tomorrow afternoon, and tomorrow evening they will announce the winners at the Festival.
I'll let you know how I do. Either way, it's been fun! Have a great weekend!

You GO GIRL,I'm rooting for you! Your pies sound (and look) YUM-O!! Ironically, I am baking a couple of pies today too for our first ever church picnic pie contest tomorrow!
No cash prizes, but one happy Jim whenever home made pies are involved!
Can't wait to hear how it goes for you!
Love,
The (other) Nonna :-)
