Tom spent the day Monday working at the new prison facility attempting to start up their kitchen equipment. (Click on the link to read about how the original prison was destroyed in 2005). He wasn't prepared to work in a closed-in structure with no air conditioning and no where to get food or water. By the time he arrived back at the hotel he was drained -- literally. All he wanted to do was take and shower and drink lots of liquid!!! Other than that, he loved working hands on with the equipment again. It's been a long time since he's been out in the field doing service work. The prison is on the other side of the island (the east coast) and has been under construction for two years. There were a number of problems that will require him to work another day - three full days instead of two. I'm grateful that we're here for the week, so that he'll have some down time before we return home. Had we come two weeks ago as planned, he would have worked every day that we were here.
I spent the day writing for the most part. The Executive Lounge offers free internet access, so I set up my writing desk there and enjoyed the surroundings. The Lounge features one wall of nothing but tall windows, so you feel like your outdoors even though you're not. (the white chair in the foreground is where I sat writing yesterday.)
I had a dream last night that Tracy couldn't find a babysitter for Norah, so Seth told her just to leave her home with Bauer. He was sure she'd be okay. I woke up grateful it was a dream - or should I say nightmare. Seth - I know you wouldn't ever suggest such a thing...right? :-)
Oh, I almost forgot...we woke up at 3:30 a.m. with a huge storm. Rain was pelting the window so hard that it woke both of us up. The sky is bright blue this morning, but the forecast is that we'll have more rain and thunderstorms for the next three days. The good news is rain will make the job at the prison more bearable, and I won't be tempted to abandoned my writing by going out on the beach. I'm saving that for when Tom can join me.
Check back each day...I'll try to post every morning. Love to you all!

I thought I'd check up on you. We're so sorry we missed Tom's birthday on Saturday. Tell him Happy Birthday from us.
So I guess God knew you would need another day of writing - sorry Tom has to work in those quarters for you to get it. It must be like being in prison for him (I couldn't resist!).
The island looks beautiful. I hope you two get to soak up some sun and relaxation before you come home. I'll be anxious to see you when we get back and get an update on your book. We leave in the morning for MD.
What a story! The funny thing is Seth HAS suggested that Bauer could watch her. =) It would never happen! Seth is babysitting tonight for the first time while I go out for a few hours. It shall be interesting. I will let you know how it went tomorrow.
I pray that your time away is wonderful! Look forward to hearing more.
